We Made it to 28 WEEKS!
And Yes!
28 weeks means I made it to the 3rd Trimester.
A lot has happened in the 2 weeks that we have been here.
- Daily Dr. visits
- New Year! (My baby will be born in 2014)
- Tour of the NICU
- Glucose Test (I passed!)
- Daily sweet potato fries (my favorite thing to order)
- Many wonderful visitors
Update: Our Dr. has told us that we will induce at 34 weeks, if we can make it that far, as I mentioned in the last post. We are scheduled for February 19th. There are 2 reasons the baby would come sooner.
1. If I get any signs of infection: Fever, tenderness of the belly, etc.
2. If contractions and labor start again they wont give me anything to stop it. It may be a sign of an infection and they will deliver.
To be honest everything has been going smoothly up until this week. It has been a little rough!
Monday Jan 6th I started bleeding. Not enough that the Dr and Nurses seem TOO concerned, but enough that they are monitoring me closely.
Tuesday Jan 7th the bleeding slowed but at 6:05pm I started having contractions.
1st - 6:05pm
2nd - 6:12pm
3rd - 6:20pm
4th - 6:28pm
Luckily, I was being monitored for contractions and the baby's heart beat at this time, otherwise I wouldn't have even felt them. It was disheartening to see the baby's heartbeat go down with each contraction. If that pattern continues, I will have a C-section instead of being induced.
I hate feeling this helpless. The hardest part of this situation is feeling that everything is COMPLETELY out of my control. I wish I had something I could do to stop contractions or to keep from getting an infection. There is nothing! Just a lot of sitting, waiting, and hoping...
Once we noticed that I was having contractions, Joseph and I both did our best to stay calm, but that wasn't easy. I just kept think, "I don't want to have this baby tonight, I haven't even made it to 28 weeks." My parents and Rhett came right away to give me a blessing. John and Trudy (Joseph's parents), surprised us and came to visit on their way home from California. They arrived just in time for everyone to give me a blessing.
It was a blessing to have so many wonderful men stand in and give me a blessing. I am thankful for the peace and reassurance in such a stressful and scary time.
5th - 7:35pm
6th - 9:05pm
7th, 8th, and 9th All happened from 10:00pm - 11:08pm
Last contraction - 10th - 11:35pm
Bed Time
Well, after finishing up my oral Antibiotics last week, I got a cold that has given me an annoying cough. Last night that cough kept me and Joseph from sleeping. I am REALLY missing my NyQuil fix!
Things are now calming down again and we have had a wonderful morning, outside in the snow, celebrating 28 Weeks!
